After starting the season with intense training, Texas Tech cross country continues to work toward the Big 12 Conference Championship meet.

The Red Raiders prepare for the Big 12 Championship meet on Nov. 1 in Ames, Iowa, lightening the rigorous workouts that helped put the women's team to No. 1 in the Mountain Region and No. 11 in the nation.

Tech coach Jon Murray said Tech is preparing for the difficult competition by staying healthy.

"We're just sharpening up," he said, "making sure we take care of ourselves as we get ready for the Big 12."

The women's team continues training following a first place finish at the Chile Pepper Festival on Oct. 18, along with the men who finished sixth at the same meet.
